Adopt a Family (Sponsor a Family for the holidays)


Thank you for your interest in being an Adopt-A-Family sponsor. Each year, hundreds of local families facing challenging circumstances are in need of support and encouragement, especially during the holiday season. Development Centers typically identifies 15 to 20 families who are in great need of holiday support.

  1. Fill out the application below to let us know how you would like to help. You can choose to help one or more families and can specify the size of the family you would like to support.  
  2. Once we receive your application, a staff person will contact you and connect you with a family’s wish-list for each of their family members. You will grant their wishes by purchasing the items they need. 
  3. Not a shopping fan but want to help? You can make a donation online, select family sponsor, and our “elves” will do the shopping for you. 
  4. All gifts are asked to be dropped off at our main office 17421 Telegraph Rd, Detroit MI by Tuesday, December 20.

Host a Holiday Party or a Donation Drive

Giving Back is always better together! 

Would you like to spice up your holiday festivities this year by giving back? Holiday parties are a great way to raise awareness and make an impact on local families facing challenging circumstances.  

Some example ideas for your party can include: hosting a small fundraiser, a donation of drive, or making food baskets. Not sure what items you want to collect? Staff members are more than happy to work with you to brainstorm ideas and you know of the most urgent needs.

Hosting a Drive

 You can host a drive (warm pajamas, warm coats, blankets, diapers, food baskets) with your friends, family or co-workers. Upon request, we can also have a staff member come out to your gathering and do a short presentation about how your support is making a huge impact.
